Jason continues his Learning Blender Tutorials with a multi-part series that combines modeling, rigid body dynamics, drivers, and blueprint style rendering to create a fun and creative shot.full course
In this tutorial, we’re going to take our dominoes from where they were after The Great Mouse Launch – Part 2: Adding Physics and Scale, and add the drivers we learned about in the previous tutorial. This will tie their mass to the size of each domino. However, Blender can be “sensitive” when it comes to an object’s scale value being too big or too small, so instead of connecting to the scale, we will need to connect to the actual dimensions of the domino. This will allow us to apply the scale and normalize their values to 1, 1, 1.
We will also look at how to move the origin of the domino down to the base in order to make it easier to position each domino as we scale it.
In the end, we will have a domino with the mass of 8 grams affecting a domino that’s the mass of a blue whale!
